Brushing Scam Alert

We have been made aware of a scam known as ‘brushing’. The scam includes receiving an unexpected package by mail or through a delivery service such as Amazon. The package containing a gift contains no sender's information, but will contain a QR code that advises the recipient to scan it to find out who sent the package. Scanning the code then gives scammers access to the victim's phone and, with it, all of their personal and financial information. If you are the recipient of such a package, first check with friends and family to see if it’s a genuine gift, otherwise DO NOT SCAN THE QR CODE. Read this article if you have been sent something to guide you on what to do: Amazon Brushing Scam.  By the way, if you receive a package like this there is no obligation to return it.

Be alert, if a deal looks too good to be true it usually is.
